You might have heard that he was just awarded the Medal of Honor for actions performed while serving in Afghanistan.
He talks about those actions in this very powerful (I thought) video. It does have some strong language so maybe don't play it for your 5 year old.

A very brave young man. While the Medal of Honor is a nice thing to give him whats more important is that he be given any and all support he needs when he gets home to help him deal with what he has experienced.
