Normally they require at least 60. 51 is considered the "nuclear" option, but since Harry Reid went with it it doesn't seem so nuclear anymore. But McConnell has to approve it.
Nope. 60 votes are required to override a filibuster. If Mitch had 50 votes he'd put it on the floor and make democrats filibuster.

Depends for who your talking about. Young people that typically don't need insurance save a few hundred bucks. Everyone else sees their premiums go up because those young healthy people are out of the pool.
You mean the people who actually use it?
Damn! What a novel idea ... paying for what you use!
The mandate was ANTI-AMERICAN.

Good point, young people never get sick and never need to seek medical care. They never visit the ER when uninsured costs gets passed on to everyone else. AMERICANS let people die in the street if they don't have cash. The greatest society one could imagine.

So you don’t believe America is the greatest society to ever exist? The best government ever implemented? Which society would you like to live in, your passport will get you to basically any of them.

There are plenty of healthcare systems that deliver superior results at a lower cost than the AMERICAN system.
Like?*crickets* because most socialist styled healthcare is riddled with problems for the service provider and the consumers. A lot of problems with health care in America comes from inflated prices from regulations and the socialized aspects that have been in place.

These issues should be tackled on local levels in the state and communities, not nationally.

Regulations and socialized aspects are not the cause of inflated prices. Having a healthcare system based on profit and not service is the cause.

I guess those people dying in the streets are doing so at the entrance to the hospital after being denied access?

Dying in the street or the emergency room has the same outcome for the deceased.

are they dying outside the emergency room after being denied access? no because they are not being denied access. you mentioned someone having selective hearing recently?

regulations and socialized aspects that eliminate competition do drive up those costs.
Competition is not the problem. Healthcare has become big business and very profitable to treat the sick and injured. Anytime a life necessity becomes a necessity for profit, the majority of Muricans will foot the bill.

Where are Americans being put out in the street to die if they can't pay?

If the poor and sick don't have healthcare they are being denied access. Yes you do have selective hearing.

you guys cant argue both sides of this issue. you argued that the poor being treated in hospitals and not being able to pay for it was driving our costs up. now you want to claim that they are being denied access to those same hospitals. Make up your mind which dishonest argument you plan to stand behind.

Yes, which is why the Senate, unlike the House, doesn't go with a simple majority on most votes. It was standard parliamentary procedure with the simple majority vote considered the "nuclear" option. Harry Reid was warned by other Democrats to not use it, that it would bite them down the road. He did anyways, I believe it was on Obamacare. So now it's been used by both sides, but most votes require at least 60 to win.
