When your are let go, because of downsizing(eliminating your position) why is it that when you sign your severance agreement, you are agreeing that you can never work for UPS again anywhere???:dissapointed:
What could be the rationale for this?

My guess would be they didn't like you?

I never realized severance packages contained such clauses.

Is it not because you are being paid to leave, more or less? They do not want to pay someone to leave, only for them to come back. The whole point was to cut a position and costs. Also having the time with the company doesn't just evaporate. If you are rehired you probably would have an argument to retain old pay rate and vacations, sick time benes etc
