People love to make the Republican versus Democrat debate during Civil War. It was a war of the North and the South. If you lived in the north, anti-slavery, if you lived in the south, pro-slavery. The Confederate states seceded from the United States, meaning, they weren’t Americans. The Union was ALL liberals wanting to change America, the South was (still is today), Conservative wanting to keep the tradition of slavery. If you think a Conservative from NY is the same as a Conservative from Texas, you have a lot to learn. If you think a Liberal from MA, is the same as a Liberal from Kentucky, you have a lot to learn.
