The Confederate states seceded from the United States, meaning, they weren’t Americans. The Union was ALL liberals wanting to change America, the South was (still is today), Conservative wanting to keep the tradition of slavery. If you think a Conservative from NY is the same as a Conservative from Texas, you have a lot to learn. If you think a Liberal from MA, is the same as a Liberal from Kentucky, you have a lot to learn.

The Democrats realized they couldn't win without the Black vote so they devised programs for Blacks to get their vote which lead to most Blacks switching parties. Most Blacks after the Civil War until the 60's were Republican. Martin Luther King was a Republican.

The Dems fought against it. And do you honestly think there aren't Democrats in the South? Most southern states are majority Republican, not totally Republican. Beto O'Rourke almost beat Ted Cruz in Texas. A Democrat in Alabama won a Senate seat when the Republicans put up a poor candidate. How has this escaped your attention? Are you not aware of all the people from other regions of the country who have moved into the South? There's a real possibility that Texas will be a blue state soon.
