Does anyone else find it ridiculous when you get a message during the day saying start times are 5 minutes later the next day.

I love it I will never understand the logic

Just telling it like it is
5 minutes x 50 drivers @ $20/hr is roughly $100.
A hundred bucks to Fred S isn't even a drop in the bucket.

Managers are doing this to look good on paper to the district so they will either qualify for a bonus (at the expense of the hourlies of course) or to keep themselves in good graces.

gotta pay for all those new Boeings somehow, right? Certainly not going to cut anything out of the flight crews' catered meals or anything drastic like that.

It's not totally about 100 bucks. I was told by an ops manager a couple of years ago that they do stuff like this to make it appear to the Managing Director that there always doing something to cut costs. It's one big dog and pony show.

Instead of moving the start time back for everybody what the SM should do, at least at my small station, is quit allowing the Gate Keeper to clock in 40 minutes earlier than everybody else just so he can do a 5 minute job.
