STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Actor, director and writer John Paragon — most remembered for his role as Jambi the Genie on “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” — died recently in Palm Springs, Calif., according to media reports.
The Riverside County Coroner stated severe alcohol abuse played a role in his death, the New York Post reported.
Paragon, who was 66, also voiced Pterri the Pterodactyl on the show, while writing and directing several episodes of the series as a collaborator with Paul Reubens, who played Pee-Wee.
