THE TRUMP 2024 THREAD

A lot of the countries on the fake tariff percentages board weren't actually doing anything to us. There was nothing to appease.
How many on that board were exporting more to us than importing from us? Start with that and see what protectionist policies they may have in place. A lot of those countries were only given a 10% tariff. Price of admission to our economy.

I don't know. We should talk about that using real, actual numbers to get that figured out. Like adults. And we should also realize when trade imbalances are natural trade imbalances. Sri Lanka, Vietnam, etc are never going to be able to import as much from us as we import from them.

China cheats by making stuff in Vietnam and Mexico in order to evade tariffs. Especially in Mexico where there is a free trade agreement.
The tariffs placed more pressure on China. No one other than China, retaliated against us.

Ya’ll lucky there were adults in the room for this one. Trump was :censored2:ting the bed big time and is getting rescued. All it took was a little bit of humility to admit defeat and announce a 90 day pause on the tariffs.
you're just trying to create something , this is the next phase of the over haul

He said he would jack up the tariffs even more on any country that raised their tariffs rates.

EU announced increased tariffs, he announces a 90 day pause.

He is backing down and taking the off ramp. He is gonna claim his very minor victory instead of driving the economy off a cliff.
the 90 pause is only for those countries that did not retaliate. try to keep up its a fast moving subject.

100% agree on needing to deal with the China situation. We'll be in a much stronger position to do so if we're working intelligently with our trade partners and allies.
again this is a complete revamp of our trade policy.
the key difference is now that our partners and allies will now have to work intelligently with us.
we tried your way and all we got was screwed.

Sri Lanka, yes. But Vietnam can do a lot better. Go look at cities like Da Nang before assuming Vietnam is dirt poor.

Democrats are idiots. They just have no capacity for logical thinking. The EU and China need a reality check, and Canada will regret retaliating against us too. The first 2 were the real targets of this realignment. The left is so into globalization, they can’t accept a strong America.

DOGE just turned up that the Biden administration in four years spent $4.6 billion on office furniture. A lot of it high end luxury furniture. One would have to guess they're either extremely stupid or they're getting kickbacks.

Washington, D.C. — Today, the U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency (U.S. Federal Housing FHFA) and Fannie Mae issued the following statement:

“In President Trump’s housing market, there is no room for fraud, mortgage fraud, or any other deceitful act that can jeopardize the safety and soundness of the housing industry,” said William J. Pulte, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fannie Mae. “Since my swearing-in, we fired over 100 employees from Fannie Mae who we caught engaging in unethical conduct, including facilitating fraud, against our great company. Anyone who commits fraud against Fannie Mae does so against the American people.”

“I would like to thank Director Pulte for his empowering of Fannie Mae to root out unethical conduct, including anyone facilitating fraud. We hold our employees to the highest standards, and we will continue to do so,” said Priscilla Almodovar, President and Chief Executive Officer of Fannie Mae. [SOURCE]
