THE TRUMP 2024 THREAD

I immediately am personally attacked when I bring up the fact that we have lots of high tech manufacturing. Our durable goods manufacturing base is nothing to sneeze at. Pretending like this whacky on-pause-off-gimmicky tariff “policy” is going to strengthen our economy is not based in any historical fact.

But keep attacking me. I know you’re good at that, at least.
OK, my friend the typical narcissist it’s everyone else not you. You do realize you have a lot more in common with Trump than you’d like to admit? Mine was just friendly advice. Makes no difference to me if you want to be banned here every couple weeks because I’m certain you don’t believe you’ve done anything wrong ever in your life most likely. And I simply pointed out what I believed Trump’s strategy was and you acted like that’s not possible and shocking. That’s because you don’t just disagree with Trump. You hate him and it’s not healthy.

I’m not going to cheer for Trump to lose just like I didn’t cheer for Joe Biden to lose even though the American people clearly thought he did.

He’s Only here for 4 years, so relax

I think people and especially the American people will pay whatever price they want for their pleasure items. The last couple months was lots of complaints about Nintendo‘s new switch 2 being super expensive as well as the games being $90.

Didn’t stop Pre orders from being sold out in just two days. 🤷‍♂️

We do have heavy equipment and tech. Are you kidding?
A lot of what we have is designed here and made elsewhere. We do build cars and planes but a lot of the components are made elsewhere. And enough of the cars are built elsewhere too by our own companies that it very much affects employment here. So much so that normally Democrat supporting unions like the UAW are very supportive of what Trump is doing. This is what gets me. Diehard Democrats, rather than recognizing anything Trump is doing is good for Labor and thus for the country, look at unions who've voiced approval of his policies as traitors. Which always begs the question, who are Democrats loyal to first, their country or their party?

We're still starting the first quarter and everyone is eager to predict the end game
I’ve already stated I have serious doubts that Trump can succeeded. Not necessarily because I disagree with everything he’s trying to do, but because I understand the political cycle and this country makes it difficult for any real change.

I'm sitting in a very nice room in a very nice Hilton hotel in downtown Atlanta. Visiting a cousin who has 6 kids and not enough room so his wife, who has a job at another big hotel in Atlanta, used her discount to get me this room for $63 a night for four nights. Normally goes for hundreds. One thing it makes you realize after spending years in my little podunk hometown is just how much wealth is in this country.

Exaclty. Trump knows what's good for him. Time to cut back, kiddo!
well that takes it to the other extreme. i think trumps point is maybe we can buy a few less toys and still be ok. when i grew up i had some toys but not anywhere that many. I learned to be creative and take ordinary things like sticks and rocks and whatever was laying around and turn it into something. that was actually more fun at times than the toys.

When my oldest daughter had her first Christmas that she really understood what getting presents meant she was probably six or seven years old. We kind of went wild with buying toys and gifts, and I remember watching her open her gifts and when she was done, she was surrounded by a bunch of unboxed toys and her first question was…. “Is that all?”. it was right then that my wife and I understood we had made a huge mistake from that point forward our kids only received a couple of meaningful gifts every Christmas.

It's time to go back to sticks and rocks now that the Trump tariffs are here.

Made me think of how quickly my brother and I broke our gifts shortly after Christmas.
