What is really crazy about this slide is that Amazon logistics is heading north of 20% of the US package market yet it has essentially only one customer. It is not even a transportation company in its own right and makes no revenue. It is a cost function of it's parent company.

We have spent billions of dollars per year for many years on expanding operations and will do so for the foreseeable future. At some point, you have to make sure you are also getting the bang for the bucks you spent.
It is an objective fact that US companies (including UPS) are spending less and less (relative to total revenue) on capital expenditures. Instead of investing in their operations they're throwing more and more money to shareholders. Enough.

...because Amazon pours tons of money into capex.

Because why grow the company for slightly more profits when you can just loot it into the ground with stock buybacks

Tear out the roots and move to the next sucker willing to hand over power to financiers and other rootless people
