ANCRAMDALE—Five people were injured, including three children, when a United Parcel Service truck crashed into a Taconic Hills school bus, the afternoon of June 1.
According to a report from the scene, investigators believe that the truck was following too closely behind the school bus when the bus driver slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting a deer. The truck could not stop before slamming into the rear of the bus.
Three youngsters were treated for neck and back injuries. The bus driver and the UPS driver were taken to an area hospital for treatment of back and neck injuries.
There were 15 students on the bus at the time of the accident.
Charges against the truck driver are pending, according to the unofficial report.
