Not sure if it'll let you do this. I always just type in xxxxxx & guess the weight, usually higher than it probably is.

Recording methods are to use shipper name if shipper # not available.

Smart pickups are only for occasional shippers. I was told that if they ship out 3 or more days per week that they cannot qualify for the service.

True & false. I have a customer on my route that ships stuff pretty much everyday that is a smart pick up. It only cancels out maybe once every other week or so. Had a similar customer on my last route.

You type in the first 6 letters of the shipper name.

Billing will link the ASD to the delivery and bill accordingly.

Correct.
Per the OP question, the account # entered in Box 1 is billed regardless of what is pre-printed on ASD/Waybill.
