UPS to display prototype for package car at investors conference - Business First
United Parcel Service Inc. officials have set a tentative agenda for next month’s investors conference, which will be held in Louisville on Wednesday, Sept. 14, and Thursday, Sept. 15.
Tours of Worldport air hub, the UPS Global Operations Center and the UPS Supply Chain Solutions facility and presentations by top management officials are on the agenda for next month’s conference, which is expected to draw about 100 analysts and investors.
Also featured at the event will be a new prototype composite package car, which is being tested to determine whether it stands up to UPS standards for delivery vehicles. At 8,900 pounds, the prototype’s weight is 1,000 pounds less than the traditional UPS vehicle, and the vehicle uses 40 percent less fuel.
