Lol This says it all. China did not call. Everyone here knows it. I thought they would but I heard they would seriously inconvenience their people to save face. Hate to say it but that is an advantage.
you guys have had what 10 years to study Trump and learn about him? what does he do when he is negotiating with another country? He starts out blasting them from all angles. what happens when the sides start talking? the tone changes the opponent trump was blasting suddenly becomes his best friend.
considering this tactic is one we seen time and again has anyone considered the possibility that the two sides are actually quietly talking and that may be why trumps tone towards the chinese has changed recently?

Yes. He has his style. Nothing changed besides his media machine was cold muscle this time.

I believe both of these men took over tough financial drop offs. Politicians still made $ though.
And Obama exacerbated the drop off by adding layers of regulatory burden while increasing the financial burden of average Americans with Obamacare. Biden exacerbated the drop off by injecting $2 trillion in cash into the money supply when every economist out there, including liberal ones, warned him it would cause inflation. Which hammered average Americans financially. I'm worried too that Trump may make things worse with this tariff strategy but lets not soft soap what other presidents have done recently.

He is doing international deals with companies. Tariffs is just consolidation of power for banks. The Billionaires sold with prior warning. Remember they huddled…..

“The 19 richest US households – which include titans of industry like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett – saw their wealth grow by $1 trillion last year, according to new data released Wednesday.”

Did you not see the recent list of top ten wealthiest billionaires? Only.Warren Buffet increased his net worth. And last year before Trump became president? Instead of seeing some grand conspiracy consider the warnings that we were close to a financial cliff for some time. These guys have the best financial analysts working for them. And Buffet himself is the most financially astute of them all. These guys saw their wealth increase because the stock market did well for the companies they head. It's their stock holdings that increased their wealth, not some scheme behind the scenes to rip off the country.

OK, what I'm about to say might ruffle some feathers. I'm sure you're aware that our military intelligence creates dossiers on foreign military officers. Before going into battle our generals want to know the tendencies of the opposing general and their background influences that formed those tendencies.

So if you were to create a dossier on Trump for his rivals to digest, and putting aside your own feelings about him to be as objective as possible, what would you say are Trump's driving motivations? I would say a prominent one is he absolutely loathes coming out on the short end. His "The Art of the Deal" was all about coming out on top. That's reflected in how he goes after those who cross him in any way. Melania once said in the 2016 campaign if you hit him he hits you back harder.

So now we have these tariffs. Based on things that he said on video decades ago this has been a sticking point for him. I don't think he brought it up in his first term because he knew it might keep him from being reelected. But I think he feels strongly that all these countries who've done much better trading with us than we with them have been screwing us for decades. And he wants to get even.

Until covid hit he did have an excellent economy. He rolled back regulations, increased oil production, lowered taxes, kept the country secure. That's what I voted for, a return to that. If it was the best economy ever, as he likes to say, then why not more of the same? I'm willing to give him a chance but it had better work. If it doesn't then the country will be much worse off economically. We'll all be paying a price for a man's anger over trade imbalances and his determination to put everything in our favor. Great if it works, disaster if it doesn't.
