What actually happens to damaged shipments? Is something illegitimate going on?

Both missed and damaged are to never be used as directed. Always wondered why the damaged key is even in there since that's a long standing never use option. They say falsifying records is a primary way of getting fired but it's what we're explicitly told to do.

I do what my training states, not what my dip stupidvisor says. Following my training is "working as directed"

That's an interesting method. Not sure if that could backfire as a no-scan. They've always told us to sheet refused for a damage which I always thought was stupid. So the customer goes and tracks their package only to see that they "refused" and package when they didn't. Great service.

Been told every shady thing from management. "Don't sheet it missed, future it". Or the old NS# when it suits you. It's all about appeasing those sitting in nicer offices than your center manager.
