Woke Olympics, How Will Viewers React?

You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
entertainment has politics in case you didnt notice.
And I have complete freedom over what I’m willing to put up with to be entertained.

This is what the athletes and the leagues don’t seem to get. It matters not if their side is right or wrong or whatever if people are tuning out because they don’t like you should probably rethink your approach.

sports is already political. for example ncaa players not paid for playing, china sweat shops for shoes, racism, etc.
I you can’t separate an athlete wearing a certain shoe from them kneeling and folks being constantly bombarded from it I don’t know what to tell you.

Those two things are so far apart on the thing on the things that matter scale for most people grouping them together is comical.

If folks think they’re bombarded they are lol it only matters what they think. And yea when sports channels like espn are spending half of their day covering protests instead of sports that’s an issue for many.

I can’t even count the number of people I know that used to wake up and watch sports center religiously for an hour. Now almost none of them do because you might get 15 minutes of actual sports highlights in that hour.

well op needs and many members on here are clearly overreacting to the few minutes of politics the athletes are doing.

see if we were actually free then they wouldnt be risking anything by making these political statements which only last a few minutes, but were not.

Just because one is free does not mean they’re free from the consequences of their actions.

journalists who get fired for speaking out against the war is a sign you might not be. what happened to kap is a sign we might not be. athletes who get in trouble for their very reasonable politics means we might not be.

Your free to speak out, if your willing to face the consequences. Just because you engage in civil disobedience doesn’t mean your not going to be arrested. You don’t seem to grasp that. You can’t have it both ways or you have anarchy.

its a given there will be a reaction to ppl speaking out, the question is what kind of reaction determines how free we are.
