The UPS Foundation Awards Nearly $2.5 Million in Environmental Grants

More Than Three Million Trees Planted Across 47 Countries to Support Global Environmental Sustainability

The UPS Foundation, the philanthropic arm of UPS® (NYSE: UPS), announced it has awarded nearly $2.5 million to non-profit organizations with an emphasis on environmental sustainability. The UPS Foundation’s largest environmental grant recipient is The Nature Conservancy, a leading conservation organization that works globally to protect ecologically important lands and bodies of water.

Launched in 2011, UPS’s Global Forestry Initiative goal is to help plant, protect and preserve trees in urban and rural areas and critical forests around the world. UPS’s ongoing contribution to The Nature Conservancy continues to support the program for reforestation in the U.S., Brazil, Guatemala, Haiti and China. Through this effort, The Nature Conservancy will be directly responsible for planting 700,000 trees in at-risk or eroded ecosystems. The grant will also be used to support the Responsible Asia Forest Trade Dialogues program with the EU and to support the Healthy Trees, Healthy Cities Initiative.

e-Commerce Acquisition Provides Enhanced Global Capabilities

UPS® (NYSE: UPS) announced it has acquired U.S.-based international e-commerce enabler and logistics company i-parcel, LLC. The acquisition complements UPS’s international cross-border logistics capabilities from the U.S. and U.K., to over 100 countries. As e-commerce merchants in the U.S., U.K. and other countries grow, UPS continues to strengthen its logistics and technology capabilities to meet the demands of its global customer base.

UPS Named to Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for Second Consecutive Year

UPS® (NYSE: UPS) announced it was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the second consecutive year, positioning the company in the top 10 percent of sustainability performers among the 2,500 largest companies tracked in the S&P Global Broad Market IndexSM. For the 10th straight year, UPS was also named to the DJSI North American Index.

CDP Ranks UPS in Top Ten Percent of Companies Measured for Sustainability Efforts

UPS makes CDLI with a score of 100 out of 100

UPS® (NYSE: UPS) announced it secured a top ranking on the CDP’s Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) of Standard & Poor’s (S&P) 500 companies for the fourth consecutive year. With a score of 100 out of 100, UPS ranked among the top ten percent of companies measured and one of only 14 to receive a score of 100.

The annual index showcases companies listed on the S&P 500 that have demonstrated a high level of transparency and data quality in their disclosure of climate-related information. Sixty-three S&P 500 companies are featured in the 2014 CDLI.
