Amazon’s Drones Set to Take Out UPS, FedEx – The Street

Amazon (AMZN_) has disrupted countless industries: retail, cloud computing, music, movies and so much more. Now, it’s onto its latest venture: disrupt shipping.

In what is an attempt to disrupt the businesses of UPS and FedEx, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos unveiled Amazon PrimeAir on 60 Minutes Sunday, Amazon’s new drone delivery service, which it hopes will allow it to get packages into the hands of customers in 30 minutes or less.

“I know this looks like science fiction,” Bezos said during the interview, while unveiling the automated delivery drones. “It’s not.”

UPS Sets 2014 Rates

New Pricing Takes Effect December 30, 2013

UPS® today released new published rates for 2014. UPS Ground, Air and International, and Air Freight rates within and between the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico will increase an average net of 4.9 percent.

Updated rate and service information will be posted on www.ups.com/rates, beginning today. Customers can download the 2014 UPS Rate and Service Guide on Dec. 30, 2013, when the new rates take effect.
