So we still have to do our job and yours?

the job you get paid for? yes.

you are given the opportuntity to walk into any business in the world, thus you are given the opportuntity to see a stack of fedex going out, and call a sales person to help grow and protect our business.....and wait for it, get additional compensation.

the reason UPS went to the 52 (46 current) districts is because our business was growing so fast.

that was 20 years ago. time to adapt. even you truck drivers ;)

Read it again. Total 1800 employees impacted, 1100 management. The other 700 are not. Frankly the 700 are probably the worst of the lot; being specialists or hourly employees may mean little or no severance.

In my district, it is the ladies that have been working at UPS for 30 years/

they were the ones you used to hand your COD cash to back in the '80's and the ladies that would call our customers every day to tell them we started new services to another country. the ones that used to hand trace signatures to provide proofs of delviery.

this is a sensitive time and if you don't know, please don't speculate.

I do the job I am compensated for every day. Still refuse to turn in sales leads, regardless of the additional compensation UPS promises, then does not deliver. You sales reps have to accept the fact that at some point, you'll have to go out and get your own sales leads. Until you are willing to help me do my job and work as my helper, I won't help the sales reps do theirs.

I'm pretty sure that wiskeyagogo meant it will be worst for the specialists and hourly because their severence is smaller if it turns out to be proportional to their salary. He wasn't saying that they are the worst employees or that they don't deserve a severence. And I agree with you that in general these are the people that make the things run well behind the scenes and that they are often under appreciated.

I am one of those 30 year ladies. I have 2 years to go to get full retirement. I work in PE now, but have worked in just about every clerical function at the company. Don't know if I'll make it or not. The PCM we were given was very vague about how us hourly employess will be affected. They have already downsized the clerical ranks to the bare bones. I work PT now and they keep piling on he work. Wonder who'll do it when they get rid of us.

Pal, put down your coffee and leave the Starbucks every now and than. Most of our trucks have no more room left for extra work. We are sick of working 10 plus hours everyday!

When would we call you? before 8am when we start or after 8 or 9pm when we are done and you are at home already?

Every customer knows who their drivers is, and the majority of them have no clue on who their sales rep is,so what does that say to you?

We the driver are the back bone of this company, and we are sick and tired of carrying your weight! Find your own leads!

upssales;
Great Post and I hope those Readers understand that our Domestic Product Margins are thin (we'd like to have a better profit for what it costs to move stuff domestically)

Collapsing Regions and Districts should positively impact our overall segment position. Let;s see what Wall Street thinks!
There are 1100 of the 1800 of the people affected that will be offered an EBO, or a different job. UPS is good about that, I have to say.
The other 700 people I'm not sure about, and I hope there are positions for them at UPS (Which is the Best Company in the World to work for).
I have talked to my people and have asked them to have confidence in our Leadership. I know I do!

Best to All:

Dol

i was helping YOU out during peak. how about you do the same? I was a helper, package runner, and I had to fricken deliver a few because you were too busy to meet me.

and I am not a sales rep.

edit: JBFC...it's a LEAD not like you are doing anything besides saying "hey, packages over there" you all seem to think that would mean more work for YOUR truck. no no no. more packages, mean more routes, means more jobs.

what is that so hard?

Without us sales reps you wouldn't have any packages to deliver....

You never delivered for me. Ever. You don't know me. Stop lying. More packages does not mean more routes. That's another lie. It just means more pick ups we have to make.

The sales force at UPS is not required to go to everyone of their customers everyday like you are. As usually another driver that thinks he know how Business Development functions, but really has no idea....

where is the loyalty for those of us who have spent over half out lives making the company what it is today? UPS is not in the red. Agreed the growth may not be what it use to be but it is still profitable. When I first started working for the company, they cared about the litlle guy. Not anymore. We are all valuable to the company, everyone of us.
