It looks like there will be 1,800 management people getting down sized, retiring or pushed out the door!

Unfortunately it will be not some of the ones that should have left in 1995!

The airline management will not reduce. The people that do retire will not be replaced. The pilot and maintenance managers and sups are the highest paid in the industry and safe and secure.

Go to UPSers.com and look under corporate pcm, its there.

I hope the IE department is the 1st to go!
"Business plans and sales strategies for the new regions and districts will be based on the unique opportunities that exist in each market, rather than historical performance. Focusing on market opportunity drives growth and market share."

The IE department may be losing some power, but now we'll be expected to perform to the marketing department's projections. Why don't you ask your local sales rep what their experience has been with those projections?

uhmmm no. the new marketing group will help the sales force better position our services to people who will pay the most for them. They will help with pricing and presentations, and hopefully, help provide good direction on sales leads/top targets.

your job will be to deliver packages and communicate any business opportuntites.

Our sales reps ask us all the time why we cant get to this account or that account earlier, we just tell them that routes are busted and rivers are going home while we work 10, 11 and 12 hours. Missed pick ups or pick ups getting picked up by one driver before they get their delivery.

Not to mention the dozens of 9.5 grievances at triple time.

So we still have to do our job and yours?

Read it again. Total 1800 employees impacted, 1100 management. The other 700 are not. Frankly the 700 are probably the worst of the lot; being specialists or hourly employees may mean little or no severance.
