I don't think you understand the nature of the Democrats health care law. It is designed to increase the burden on employer plans and union plans over time until it simply becomes "unsustainable". At that point they will pay the employer mandate fine (I like to call it an opt-out fee) & dump workers on the Obamacare exchanges to buy insurance. The ACA's incentive for employers to dump employees on the exchanges isn't a loophole as some like to say. It is a strategy.

We are in the beginning stages of what will be socialized medicine unless laws change which could happen.

Socialized medicine would mean that there would be no insurance companies making any money. Obamacare is corporate health-care on steroids and not even close to socialism. It is a perfect example of free-market mechanisms, privatization or what socialists refer to as neoliberalism. I think you watch to much FoxNews to be calling this socialized healthcare.

I take it Coli will head this meeting? Are pending grievances being heard? I went to the website, not word about Ups contract. This has to be discouraging for the ups members

I think you are mistaken in the direction we are going. I don't watch Fox news. It may take a decade or two but this is the very first step towards socialized medicine.

I honestly have no idea how this meeting will be held. This is new to me and our membership. Who will conduct the meeting I am not sure of either. It is frustrating to a point but it's not all their fault. They have much more on their plate than the UPS contract. I'd like to see some resolution with this contract. We do have part timers that can use their raise. We as full time employees are fine but these kids could use the extra to get by. How long this goes on I guess we will find out at the meeting because I will be there.

So let me get this straight since the Ibt website and 710 website say absolutely nothing about what the future holds for thousands of members, you guys are in complete lingo? What a cluster----. Our members deserve better

I cant believe there arent any postings on Flynn`s hearing. Especially by Garfield Goose and friends who seem to like sucking up to Coli.
Looks like embezzlement charges were dropped. He was suspended for 7 yrs. and has to make restitution for all unaccounted gift cards. All other monies were accounted for. Nothing on the rest of the eboard. Trusteeship will remain in affect. Politically Coli is loving every second of this. The meeting on Tues. will be a joke. By rules this meeting should've been held 30 days from takeover. Those who can attend should still go. Let Coli know this is our local not his.

Regarding the "rule" that the meeting be held within 30 days of takeover, and I assume you're referring to the trusteeship hearing, check Article VI, Section 5 of the IBT Constitution.

"The time requirements set forth in this section shall not be mandatory but are only directory."

They can pretty much do it when they feel like it and that language has been around a long time.
