Would it not be cheaper for UPS to just add routes instead of having half the building filing 9.5 grievances? It makes no sense

You would think so but that's not what ie sees or thinks.

Paying the 9.5 grievances may still be cheaper than the cost of adding someone in FT AND paying for their benefits. The benefits is the kicker in the equation.

So instead of $50 an hr for OT, they would rather pay $150 hr. Makes total sense

Not if youre already paying part timers in the building those same benefits

FT pension contribution is going to be higher.

If we didn't have awesome benefits and pension contributions on top of the $50/hr then you'd be right on.

I expect a lot of turnover at UPS by 2017. Our pension in the south goes up $700 a month August 1st 2017

I'm not arguing that. I'm asking a simple question, but way to be argumentative.

No it would not. I have been told that by a supervisor.

He runs the "zamboni" that cleans up after all the drivers have left.

If EVERYBODY who was eligible for the 9.5 list would get on it, everyone take their lunches and breaks during the day (as per the contract), and 8 hour days were exhausted by all drivers every month, UPS would HAVE to bring on more people.

However, UPS knows this will never happen, so they keep running the hell out of drivers who would rather bitch and moan than take advantage of these contractually agreed upon options for lightening up the dispatches.

    No.

How many times do we need to go over this.

If a part timer goes full time who takes their spot?

Another employee one that wasn't getting any H&W money before.

Why won't the Union crack down ASAP on the 9.5 issue? How many times do we have to file? I'd hate to see a bunch of drivers go down right before peak due to excessive repetitive motion injuries.
