I don't accept anything less than the amount on the package. I do however accept checks that are over. Just make sure you inform the customer they wrote out a check that is over the amount and you may or may ever see a credit.

Thanks for the replies. Now what if the amount they have over is a lot more, say $20-30? Still no problem? And I'm not referring to being short. I would never accept that.

Over is never a problem. Under within $1 is never a problem. I have never seen payment tendered that was $20-30 over but if I did I would point it out to the consignee and if they were OK with it I would accept it and turn it in.
