Think about it: 4 sorts, 200 inbounds and 1000 outbounds. That's roughly 1200 loaders and unloaders per sort (times 4 sorts = 4800 employees). They just don't have any sorters.
CACH - Chicago Area Consolidated Hub is by far the largest hub. It is a magnificent building to see. It is 3.5 miles to walk around the outside. It is a district all by itself.
Don't know about the size you mention, Lifer, but it sounds right. I used to drive right by it on I-294 going to and from school in southern Illinois. Incredible place just to watch. The nightmarish thing about CACH is that when it went down, your night became a night from h*ll. Those at the suburban hubs know what I mean....-Rocky
My hub has one center one level all down a conveyor belt. Normal time of year we run like 28 routes peak around 43 routes not very big. Small enough I’ve ran every route in here.
