Glenn Reynolds: Time to raise the voting age — to 25

Really not a piece about race. Just about how college kids can't be considered grown ups. They are still spoiled children.

Since racism on colleges is what we have been discussing I found it appropriate.

Might as well change the drinking age smoking age and age required to enlist in the armed forces while you're at it.

So why then take away their right?;)
I linked the article more because of how it talked about how college kids are just still spoiled brats.

These aren't the 22 year old from 2 generations ago that were working full time jobs and raising family. These kids have the maturity of a 12 year old back then.

Repeal the 26th Amendment .
Adopted in 1971 at the tail end of the Worst Generation's anti-war protests, the argument for allowing children to vote was that 18-year-olds could drink and be conscripted into the military, so they ought to be allowed to vote.

But 18-year-olds aren't allowed to drink anymore. We no longer have a draft. In fact, while repealing the 26th Amendment, we ought to add a separate right to vote for members of the military, irrespective of age.

Obamacare defines an adult as someone who has reached the age of 26 .
Using that as a guideline all laws should be adjusted to match .
The old motto was "Old enough to fight, old enough to vote."
The new motto is: "Not old enough to buy your own health insurance, not old enough to vote."

I almost brought up
Those exact same points. Why not say 25/26 to vote drink/smoke whatever but if you choose to go
Into the military then you get the right to vote sooner.

The student body president at University of Missouri has apologized for spreading false rumors about a “confirmed” instance of Ku Klux Klan members on campus.

Payton Head, who is black, warned students on Facebook Tuesday to “stay away from windows in residence halls,” because the “KKK has been confirmed to be sighted on campus.” He also purported to be “working with” the University of Missouri Police Department (MUPD), the state trooper and National Guard over the alleged threat.

Id say that's grounds for being kicked out of school.

I wonder where he got the idea that the National Guard should be involved .
Was it something he learned as an intern back in Chicago ?

You might as well raise the age of consent if you are going to argue that 18 year olds are not adults. Just because most 18 year olds don't think like old white men doesn't mean that they should not have the right to vote.

But since most 18 years old act like they have the mental capacities of old men , then yes their abilities to vote should be questioned .

I would be interested to know what you consider "old" to be. 30-40-50-60-70-80-90? To a 10 year old a 20 year old person is over the hill.
