I've seen people leave before. Although I'm sure there's an exception out there. If he quit before he got the bonus. He lost it. He also lost the portions of past years awards that haven't vested yet. That's a significant amount of money too.

what if he already filled out paperwork for how the stock was to be paid, i.e. cash, stock, etc. ?

My understanding is that you had to be on the payroll the date the funds are deposited. He will also lose any RSU'S that haven't vested. It is different if he retired.

Unsure.. But they haven't yet. And if he already quit. The money is gone. Also the RSU's. He should have known that when he decided to leave.
