I always tell my wife that we don't loan money to friends or relatives.
If they happen to pay us back, that's like finding money in the pocket of that jacket I haven't worn in a couple years.

PS - I'm down somewhere north of $100k but 2 people have degrees and 4 families have houses.
We are helping 2 other with college costs now.

Note: When you 'give' someone the money for their down payment on a house, you have to sign an agreement that the funds are a gift and will not be paid back.
