I'm purely speculating (saw this happen multiple times) but after you left, packages may have been brought that were originally missorted and your sip used your scanner. Probably had one missort and scanned it and threw it in anyway.

Which could easily be proved. If OP punched out at 10pm and the scanner was used at 10:15...obviously he can't be held responsible for the.misscan.

Don't sweat it. This time of year they like to have as much leverage on you as they can. Live and learn. Next time have your Weingarten card ready to go.
