Uniform Question

I only know of one driver at my center who actually uses the locker room every morning and night. I have worn my browns into the grocery store to pick up a few things on the way home many times. As long as you are in and out it's no big deal.

I would not want to be caught in them at the bar. I was at one of the larger bars in town for Halloween and someone (non-employee) had a complete uniform on. He got it from his friend who was an air driver Just so happened that one of the driver-sup's from the center was there too. I'm not sure what happened, but it wasn't good.
the employee is stupid for not telling his friend to keep his mouth shut.
the friend is stupid for not keeping his mouth shut, regardless whether or not he was told.

stupid people.

Do you really think people in a bar give a crap if someone is wearing a UPS shirt or a Fedx shirt or a cable company or Joes Garage shirt? Just because you wear a UPS shirt don't mean your God. In fact if you had a normal day at UPS you probably stink like the devil. It's just a damm shirt. And yes I don't care if you wear the UPS pants either. Have a beer and relax!
it gives a bad impression IMHO, Rod. especially when you can throw on a hoodie or shed your brown into just a t-shirt. a person who drives for a living drinking beer. it's like a cop or security guard whose working foot crew at the state carnival wearing his kevlar vest on top of his shirt, accompanied with an ear piece and kevlar gloves on the hands. sure, nothing wrong, but what kind of message does this convey?

Don't know for sure why the uniform topic is so big. A lot of the uniform we originally bought(the early shorts, socks, and shirts). You mean to tell me something you bought you cannot wear. I retired several years ago and still wear some of the shirts I had bought.

There is a Bar/Resteraunt that we meet after work. We have so many UPS'ers there that we really dom't care if we have a beer while wearing our uni's. All I know is that after a grueling day at work I just want to get my hands on that first cold mug. The bar owner could care less, us drivers are his best customers and great tippers!

"So if we are being paid to deliver that oversize vibrating box to the porn store everything is o.k."

Lurking, I know you were kidding, but if you're making a delivery to the shop, no problem in that. But, it you're in the porn shop browsing, handling the merchandise, checking out a rental - in your uniform, that is gross and would not be considered too cool.

I remember when they washed our pants at the center and then they started having Cintas wash the pants. Then some put a feather in his cap supervisor said that we could wash our own pants and wear our uniforms to and from work. So since then I wear my uniform anywhere I need to go on the way to or going home from work. Of course, in feeders we try to avoid getting sweaty!

I think I will dig out the only UPS shirt I saved when I retired and go get drunk and rent a porn flick.

A couple of weeks ago, I wore my to the dentist office. My tooth was aching real bad had to get a root canal. Wore my uniform so I could make it to work on time. The dentist almost freaked when he say me in my uniform.

why would you want to wear your uniform after working in it ALL DAY, I would take extra (non ups uniform) to work and leave it in my locker, when the day was over and i was going bar hopping or what ever i would change into something nicer than that brown uniform. how many days did you wear those pants before you washed them? thay dont give you five pair!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello!

Thank you for your answers.
This person is a temporary driver. They went into a bible study group after work (I guess...) and I think they wore it in just to make a statement that they worked for UPS. (You know....to gloat to fellow friends) This person is the one who told me it was a no-no to wear the uniform anywhere but at work. (They told me this while they were wearing it visting someone in the hospital)

I guess I am just curious how strict UPS is with things like that.

Have a super-duper weekend!

Many building still do not have xtra locker space for temp hires. Some driver's helpers still work split shifts (short periods of down time between drivers) From your question, one might conclude you are not an employee. Nor does it sound like this person was conducting themselves in a disparaging manner while in uniform. Just wondering how this has become a concern for you. Are you going to 'RAT' them out? If so..you can turn me in also as I wore my uniform to the doctor's office prior to my start time yesterday and into a major department store last week while shopping on my meal time.

Funny thing is the first two people I encountered in this store for the first time in my life felt a need to tell me I didn't have time to be shopping.

yea, point is fine except u forgot the fact that your messing up the ups reputation. It's not the god thing. it's projecting a negative image by wearing the browns at a Bar. Can we say profesionalism and commercial driver. Besides the innocent light wieght stuff your not suppoessed to wear the browns. Even if by some miracle your center doesn't care. Their r regional management and others outside your center that can find out and then it wont matter what your center or manager says. One of the many papers you signed and agreed on has when u 1st was hired has it in there no matter how long ago you was hired. I toke my training with a regional manager who covers all northeastern ohio and she was reporting drivers off the hook without them ever even seeing or knowing who she was. even in street clothes on her own personal time and in her own personal vehicle she calls in reporting people. Drivers with doors not secure, driving with bay door open,. Bad driving habits. personal time in unifoms, shirt not tucked, under shirt not correct white or brown,etc....... Don't think that cause your center manager doesn't care will make you safe. In 1 4 hr drive alone she reported 5 drivers. They're out their and it's a chance not worth taking.

I've never seen anything in black and white that says "Thou shall not wear a UPS shirt into anywhere after you are off the clock. Someone show me this please. Are you saying that after a 10 plus hour day busting your butt and working up a dirty sweat you are suppose to take off your smelly shirt and put on a clean non-UPS shirt just to stop and and have a cool one? Bull. As for your POS regional manager who has nothing better to do than to drive around and watch for drivers with their shirt untucked I think I know who you are talking about. We had her for awhile. She gets her jollys by getting others in trouble. One of these days she will rearend somebody while she is rubber necking.

Hello-
No, I am not an employee. Decided to not become a driver helper because it sounds much harder than I am physically capable of myself. And no, I am not going to "rat" this person out. I am not out to do so, although I honestly think it would be a huge mistake on UPS to hire this person...for reasons that I am not going to share and 15 years of personal knowledge of this person and what they are like. I just honestly wondered what the UPS policy is on this subject. That's all...nothing more behind the question!

Wow reading some of these comments about almost get DWI like there proud or it's funny only Men think these things are funny and represent the company well. I saw a UPS driver seriously wearing his shirt untucked wrinkled, and saggying his pants like a drug dealer? Is the the way UPS wants there employees to represent the company? Sloppy thugs? Where is the respect for the company and yourself Annoyed!

Who cares? We have white dudes that've never had shave bumps in their lives with shaving waivers and drivers with no waiver at all looking like ZZ Top. LOL. Drivers also wear camo jackets. Anything goes now.

Howdy all!

I have a question for you. Are UPS'ers allowed to wear the uniform..say...to church or to the store?

I saw a driver the other day with their uniform on at 9:00 at night...somewhere other than in their truck. Someone once told me that was a no-no.

Who is right?

How does this concern you?
