Depends. For me wasn't a big deal. I had like 2 weeks and my wife was in school. No way I was getting off during the summer when she was off anyway.That sucks

If you really can't wait that long you can always say you had something booked, especially if the vacation was already approved.
Wouldn't that vacation be unpaid?
