SW Miami-Dade woman upset after UPS driver drops heavy package on top of her dog – WSVN

A UPS driver dropped off a package outside a Southwest Miami-Dade home in a dangerous way when it landed right on top of a woman’s dog.

The owner of the dog, who asked not to be identified or show her face on camera, said she was disturbed by what she described as a careless delivery.

“It’s heart-wrenching. Like, you cringe,” she said.

It’s how she felt when she looked at her surveillance video and saw a UPS driver throw her package over her fence, at around noon on Wednesday.

Package deal: The married UPS, FedEx couple – NwestIowa

UPS driver Seth Johnson made a bold bet one day when he was delivering to Sheldon Auto Supply.

After Seth arrived, a FedEx truck pulled up and a woman was the driver. So, Seth bet one of the workers at the business $100 that he could get a kiss from the FedEx driver.

The guy took Seth up on the bet, and Seth went out there and gave the FedEx driver a big kiss without any hesitation.

The catch: The FedEx driver was Jen Johnson, Seth’s wife of 14 years.

UPS workforce declined by 9,000 employees in 2021, as losses in the U.S. offset gains internationally – Marketwatch

United Parcel Service Inc. disclosed Tuesday that its workforce was reduced by about 9,000 employees in 2021, as job cuts in the U.S. more than offset net hiring internationally. The package delivery giant said in its 10-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it had 534,000 global employees at the end of 2021, excluding seasonal employees, of which 444,000 were in the U.S. and 90 were located abroad. That compares with 543,000 global employees at the end of 2020, of which 458,000 were located in the U.S. and 85,000 were located internationally. The decline in workforce seems to jibe with the company’s “better not bigger” strategy, which included the sale of some assets.

UPS pilot Scott Farley flying inches off the ground in Pomona Top Fuel debut – NHRA

Scott Farley has done a lot of flying in his life — spending more than 12,000 hours in the air as a pilot, the last several years at the helm of an MD11, flying trans-Pacific cargo routes for UPS — but it’s nothing like the flying he’s doing this weekend just inches off the ground in Terry Haddock’s Top Fueler in his debut in the class.

“For sure there are a lot of similarities between flying a jet and driving a dragster, but they’re obviously two different machines,” he said. “Flying a big jet like that is a lot of mass to manage – 630,500 pounds fully loaded — so you’ve got to think where it’s gonna be 3, 4, 5 minutes down the road. As a pilot, you’re always looking way ahead down the runway, that same thing we do in the racecars, and yeah, an airplane is all about procedure, procedure, procedure. We do this and we get x results. And if x results aren’t happening, here’s the emergency procedure for that. And all that transfers; obviously it’s different, but it’s very familiar processing stuff.

“I’ve had engines on fire. I’ve had engine failures. We’ve had wheels separate from the airplane, and a lot of it is calm — just prioritize and let everything settle before you do anything big and that transfers as well.”
