UPS Pilots In-Building Apartment Deliveries Through Latch Smart Access Devices

United Parcel Service Inc on Tuesday said it is testing “smart lock” technology that allows its delivery drivers to open doors and drop multiple packages at secure locations inside apartment buildings around New York City.The test includes “hundreds of non-doorman” multi-family buildings in Manhattan and Brooklyn that have installed Latch’s “smart access system.” The project comes as UPS is working to make “last-mile” e-commerce deliveries to households more convenient and cost effective by reducing package theft and the need for drivers to make repeated delivery attempts.

Finalists Compete For $25,000 Prize In Small Biz Salute Pitch Off Contest

Three female entrepreneurs advance in national competition presented by The UPS Store, Inc. and Inc. Magazine

The UPS Store, Inc. and Inc. Magazine have announced the three finalists for the Small Biz Salute Pitch Off, a national competition that will reward one small business owner with $25,000 and an editorial feature in Inc. Magazine to help grow their business.

On August 8, Keitha Dendy of League City, Texas; Megan Eddings of Houston, Texas; and Bryanne Leeming of Boston, Massachusetts will compete at the Small Biz Salute Pitch Off event in Detroit, Michigan where the grand prize winner will be announced during the event.

UPS And International Brotherhood Of Teamsters Reach Tentative New National Master UPS Freight Agreement

UPS today announced a tentative agreement for a new Master UPS Freight Agreement with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. The five-year agreement, which is subject to ratification, covers about 11,000 Teamsters-represented UPS Freight employees.

UPS’s goal for the freight and small package agreements has been to reward the company’s employees for their contributions to its success while enabling the business to remain flexible to meet its customers’ needs. Meeting these goals for both the freight and small package agreements, UPS is poised for continued growth supported by greater flexibility to meet the needs of its customers.

With agreements now reached for both the freight and small package national master contracts, discussions continue for small package supplements and local agreements. Strong progress has been made on many local small package agreements and supplements, including a handshake agreement covering more than 100,000 Teamster-represented UPS employees located in the Central Conference, the Southern Conference, and Oregon / Idaho, among others. Other local agreements and supplements continue to be negotiated.

The new agreements will go into effect August 1, 2018, once they are ratified by employees.

The UPS Foundation Awards Over $10M In Grants To Advance Diversity & Inclusion Around The World

Creates network of partners to launch the UPS Women Exporter Program which will provide capacity, expertise and funding to women entrepreneurs

The UPS Foundation, which leads the global citizenship programs for UPS (NYSE:UPS), today announced it will award over $10 million in grants to advance diversity and inclusion programs this year. The grants will be awarded to 44 different organizations. They will help support programs focused on economic empowerment, education/scholarships, work training, and social and gender equality.
