Anthem Blue Cross/ Another Takeaway

Wow sounds like your healthcare plan is as good as the one at Ground. They keep this up and you all will get medical benefits from the state too. Gotta love FredEx

I think that's the next takeaway. It's only been a week, and I already hear people grousing about Anthem denying coverage. That isn't a good sign, and to have a manager come on here and criticize our crap coverage is another one. Just keep right on screwing us, Fred!!

If our state went to Anthem, I would do a quickie marriage and go under my new wife's coverage.

That doesn't say much for FedEx coverage, does it? I've noticed that you actually have a mind of your own, and don't always spread the company manure like the usual folks Maury sends here. I can respect that, unlike some of the pro-FedEx rants by others that have absolutely no basis in fact.

I've noticed FedEx4Life is back, which means that corporate is concerned. I really do mean that, because he/she is obviously from the company in the sense that FedEx can do no wrong..ever. IMO, the Anthem debacle, which is already unfolding and pissing many employees off, is one part of their concern. The other is the huge decline in morale, which is evident nearly everywhere as far as I can tell. Sure, there are exceptions, but most stations seem to have real problems these days motivating people to swallow the Memphis crap.

I approve to what I think is right FOR ME. But, I will voice my opinion to what I think is wrong as well. Because of FedEx, I have what I have today. Would things be better for me if we followed UPS? It would definitely be different, but I don't know about better..

Maybe Fred's just ahead of the curve on this one. Call me cyinical, but I don't think there is a boardroom left in United States that isn't locked into a heated race for the bottom on this front. Those costs are a perpetual snowball and something many companies have to be very careful with.

Question.

I have heard that instead of taking the money out for 48 weeks (skipping the week when the month has 5 fridays) that it will now be taken out the whole 52 weeks. Anyone heard this? Will it be prorated or do we pay the same amount each week still and they have raised our costs again?

The curve is to eventually eliminate the benefit forever.

Yes. Could it be that that curve dove-tails with other certain business model changes that may or may not be coming? If you told Ground drivers that their insurance company was changing, you'd get looks of confusion not angst. Again: Nothing promised, nothing stolen.

Probably. I know Fred would love to do it.

That's correct, it will be taken out of every check, 53 of them instead of 48. Cost is the same as it would have been, but in months with 5 checks, the total is divided out over 5 checks rather than 4. At least from what I took from the email about it. Directly from the email-->"For 2011, the cost will be divided among 53 weekly paychecks rather than 48."

I'm getting a heart catheterzation(spelling?)tomorrow which will most likely result in an angioplasty or similar. Turns out Anthem has a $1600 out of pocket annual expense. Which means even if you run up millions the most you'll pay annually is $1600. That's a relief!

Yes good luck Van. Your plan sounds very similar to the state medical I get.

Good luck from me too. I hope you got the specialist pre-approved. I doubt they'd deny something like a catheterization, but things like MRI's are getting turned down all the time now.

I got to PT for my shoulder yesterday, which started when we were still with Cigna, and it took 45 minutes for the billing lady to get my coverage confirmed. THey have a list of stuff that I have to pay for now, and the whole list is almost exclusively Anthem/BCBS. They even wanted me to pay for electrodes for my muscle stim treatment. Luckily I have the ones from workers comp...lol

Good luck with the procedure. Just fyi but Cigna out of pocket was only $1000 and there was no $150 deductible. I think the deductible does count towards the $1600 so really a $450 difference but still it does suck that it went up. Also keep in mind that out of pocket maximums do not include copays. So the $20 or $40 you pay for each visit doesn't count.

Mr. 7

The monkey on the left.
I was talking to a customer yesterday that happens to be a biller for a medical office. (I don't know what type)
I mentioned that we just went to Anthem and she almost fell over. She said that they were THE WORST health insurance company.
She also said (as Downtrodden said) that YOU need to make sure that everything you go to a doctor for is PRE-APPROVED. Emphasis on the YOU, don't leave it up to the doctor's office to figure out if your procedure will be covered. Just FYI.

Have already had a $20 and a $40 co-pay and appears will have plenty of those in my future. And they're requiring me on Lipitor for life. Was really hoping this stuff wouldn't happen for some years yet but that's the way it goes.
