Are all sorters lazy?

Brownslave688

You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
You are working towards a Master's degree but brag about how fast of a $10/hr unloader you are?
All of the focus is on book smarts now and life skills get thrown out the window. Then we end up with a generation like we have now.

Argued with someone yesterday who said it was asking too much of a 10 year old to expect them to know which side of the road to walk on. I'm like hold on they know how to multiply and divide and many have started coding by that age but knowing where to walk is asking too much!?!?!?!?!

Oh, ok, so your aunt got you the job, and instead of being your own man (or woman) You do whatever she says? Still live in her basement?
my aunt got me no job at UPS, i had no idea she'd even worked with them. she convinced me to stay after i almost slapped the :censored2: out of my sup for trying to reprimand me for my low flow in a hardware truck

As an unloader I smash trailers on the daily,I started off mediocre around 950-1100 my 1st two weeks. Now, hovering around 1400-1600 ph with a quality sorter. For the last 3 weeks no one wants to sort me, is this the norm at every hub? (Can't wait til we're automated!)

Unloading is the easiest job aside from the guy on the speaker.

I have plenty life skills. Its just retarded that the most important ppl in the building, sorters, who divert all the flow want to take their sweet :censored2:ing time. So you must have not had any of this frustration at all when you started out, got it.

UPS is a stepping stone while I pursue my true aspirations, but if I'm fortunate enough to move past PT sup within a decent time-frame I will consider making UPS a career.

So, you're criticizing guys who have been or will be slinging cardboard for years while you intend to be done with it in short order? That's about like the sups who unload one tenth of a trailer at breakneck speed and think they're badasses as they go back to find their clipboards. :censored2:, do this day in and day out for a year and then let's see how keen you are on slinging irregs like a wild man.

please don't compare me to sups that do that bs, its so annoying. At times i wish i was union b/c they do that at the end of my trailer and i want to yell "stop taking my work"

This below also applies to you as well @BigG. I posted this to some sup who thought a pt sup was a promotion and clearly you judge books by their cover. So please be the first to respond to this...

Answer these questions then tell me that is a promotion:

1. How much is your medical insurance as a pt sup?
1b. How much would your insurance cost as a loader?
2. What is happening to your pension in managment?
2b. Who still has pensions as i am writing this?
3. How many times can you call out or be late before you are fired for good
3b. How many times can a loader get fired and get their job back?
4. Who is protected by a contract?
4b. Who is protected by a contract?
5. What is your earning potential as pt sup
5b. What is your earning potential as a driver which would subsequently come as a loader then repeat questions 1-4 again...

So i ask you again, do you really think that a pt sup is a promotion?

I'm aware and comfortable with all of the initial losses switching to PT sup but I don't even have my year yet so in essence what am I losing. I generally frown upon brown-nosing but if that's what it takes to get to the where I need to be so be it. That realization is not pleasing but it's something i may have to compromise. One thing about me is I won't forget how it feels as an unloader. When provided the opportunity I will take those feelings into consideration while interacting with Union and non-union hourly.

Furthermore, I've heard that being a driver is best when you're young b/c they treat drivers like :censored2: and its not worth the stress. Got a guy that is a QC who used to be a driver and he's happy as ever with making $5/hr less.

The way this guy talks I seriously would hate to have him as a sup....

Then again sounds like he's cut out perfectly for it with his attitude.

Imo just go accept your "promotion" then quit when you realize the mistake you've made. I don't think this company could benefit from you on either side union or management. (or non union for you I guess)

i'm busting my ass for 22-25 and its frustrating as hell but i need the extra tuition asst and monthly earnings to pay for school. So i really have no choice, UPS is my springboard, as sad as that sounds.
You said earlier that you were getting overtime.

I could make a lot more delivering pizza than working part time at UPS.

I have had sups and center manager's that drove for about 3 months. They knew nothing but drank the kool-aid.

There's this girl on my box line. Nice new hire 2 weeks fresh on the easiest pull on the line. She said she's recently graduated college and wants to go into management. The center manager is already making her take the sup test too.

She straight up told me "I want to go supervisor before they put me on 3 cars." she's a nice girl and all... But if someone is going to be telling me how to do my job, they better know how to :censored2: do it.

What you are losing is potential benefits. Thats what you are losing. But at your age all you are doing is feeding the insurance machine, so thanks for that!!

As for brown nosing that is the lowest of low because it shows you lack self respect and dignity...i mean theres a reason its brown nosing. If you truly got all these morals then you would want to rise through the ranks with respect not sht on your face. Buut hey who am i to judge right? We are all nothing but ip addresses on here anyway.

As a supervisor who is truly successful (only 4 years with another organization and yes full time) and one that came from the job they oversee, guess what feeling do not matter as much as i believe they should business doesnt have feelings. So dont speak about something you do not know.
