Are all sorters lazy?

What you are losing is potential benefits. Thats what you are losing. But at your age all you are doing is feeding the insurance machine, so thanks for that!!

As for brown nosing that is the lowest of low because it shows you lack self respect and dignity...i mean theres a reason its brown nosing. If you truly got all these morals then you would want to rise through the ranks with respect not sht on your face. Buut hey who am i to judge right? We are all nothing but ip addresses on here anyway.

As a supervisor who is truly successful (only 4 years with another organization and yes full time) and one that came from the job they oversee, guess what feeling do not matter as much as i believe they should business doesnt have feelings. So dont speak about something you do not know.
That's where we differ severely. How sup make hourly feel affects morale. Maybe operations is different but for every business I've worked for employee morale is prime. That goes against economic theory and interactions I've had with Controllers, Staff Accountants and the like. I guess I have some learning to do but I can't understand how treating anyone in the building like a slave, half-wit, whatever you want to call them is helping productivity.

What award do I win for taking years to get a promotion? Is there something I don't know, where PT sups never get FT positions? Every FT sup position on UPSers requires 1 year of supervisory exp that I've read.

UPS wants flunkies in supervision. Obey and kiss the ring. Worry about numbers on reports and you will do well.

Yeh that's not me, I'm used to environments where upper management entertain new ideas/suggestions. And from what I hear, FT and mgmt aren't receptive to suggestions or things that make sense. Unfortunately I can't disclose why I am becoming a PT sup but it's not b/c I was necessarily offered the position by my PT or FT.

I refuse to smash a irreg truck, so they can throw me in another? Hell no! I thought i was hot stuff the 1st day and I just kept going hard and kept getting more hardware.

My FT comes in as I'm struggling on my last truck(irreg) says "I like you're effort and youre going to be a good worker but you have to build stamina. Now i'm not going to send anyone to help you and let you finish it on your own." From that day forward I do not smash irreg, I go at a brisk pace on irreg or I ask my PT can he get me another unloader.

I never said morale doesn't matter so theres that. Secondly, when you have to fire or write up someone or put someone a PIP over lack of production that you worked with for years that is where i say feelings do not matter. The line between want a hug? and you are not performing to expectations is almoat non exsistant. So yes you do have a lot to learn hence what @Brownslave688 said all these book smarts but no life skills or as i say street smarts. Because clearly you do not know how to talk to people because of your arrogant and negitive attitude towards your co workers. You want to act like a man then stand up and be a man and help them and go put yourself in their shoes and i do not mean for twenty minutes. I mean for years. Its a whole lot different after you have some time under your belt. Because you saying i want to stay in unload and not go to sort tells me you are an entitled arrogant come from money little kid despite your numerical age. Grow up and be a man and give respect to get it.

I'm into distribution!!
In 10 years I might know 3 PT sups who made it full-time. One told me he only started at around $50k.

If you're going to invest time into a potential career do it in something you can transfer into your own business. My friend makes 5x what I make owning a flooring and tile business. He hired my nephew 2 years ago and my nephew makes $150k installing high-end showers (roughly 65 hours a week). He's self employed so he has some expenses like insurance, but can set his own hours and vacation whenever he wants. If I lived close to them I would not be working at UPS.

i'm busting my ass for 22-25 and its frustrating as hell but i need the extra tuition asst and monthly earnings to pay for school. So i really have no choice, UPS is my springboard, as sad as that sounds.

I pulled 42 this week on unload, small support, and splitting while loading 4 cars. Honestly you think being able to empty a trailer is a world record and getting a pt sup job is gonna save you from being marginally good at one thing? Sit down and close your mouth.

Compassion is a life skill. I don't hate my coworkers, I don't appreciate sorters that like creating jams or tell me to slow down while all belts are clear.; stuff like that sparked my original post. I don't want to be in a main belt sorters shoes, I'm not less of a man for that. Unloaders that move to sort in my building don't get to come back, every vet has told me if I crossover they will not allow me to come back to unload. I've been all around the my HUB in this short time trying to understand how UPS operates. Worked in Irreg, small sort, QC, loading, assisted in the Pit. I want to be in as many shoes as possible so I can learn how to make the business better. For some people it takes 3 years to graduate college, for others it may take 8 years. Time is not indicative of knowledge, 1st fallacy in your argument. I do respect others but I have little respect for others that cause my sups to become an annoyance. In fact, my sup was a sorter and he tells me to send packages even when the sorter isn't there and let them pick it up. So I'm learning from your kind. Maybe UPS should train sups on soft skills.

You know that most cover unloaders are pulled from sort, right? And that's correct you can't change positions for six months after seniority. There exists no "point of no return". If I can make 4 guys days easier by working harder and loading their cars great. If I can do that while splitting and supporting people down my belt, even better. But come on man moving heavy things wow you must know it all.

I'm not trying to brag on about unload speed, I trying to give you all a reference you can relate too. otherwise I just say "i move packages fast." I wish I could have worked as many hours as you. I want to be a PT sup to learn another aspect of the business and gain additional responsibilities, if any.

And it's the people I work with from day 1 and you all on the forum that make me want to be in management even more. Because this company's culture is :censored2: based on Hourly workers feedback. Reading other threads and daily interactions, UPS management is either young and inept or old and surly. Sure, I don't know :censored2: compared to 99% of BC but it's not going stop me from taking an unpopular role. No one's experience in life or UPS are the same, so miss me with any management position is a death wish stuff.

You love making assumptions about people's lives @RuthlessSupSlayer

You're ridiculous, did you not read the part where it says "im trying to learn the business"
