Is earth the only place life exists? Probably not.

Will it ever matter to us? No.

I don’t think people understand what a light year is or the amount of resources it would take to travel a light year in any meaningful time.

one theory is that "intelligent" life like ourselves has destroyed itself. which is what we are in the process of doing.

We seem to be hung-up on the concept of carbon-based life. There are something like 1,200 other planets identified that could possibly have an atmosphere and water that would support life as we know it. But, who is to say that there isn't life out there completely different from "life" as we know and understand it.
