Beer choice this Memorial weekend?

Most people take this weekend for granted. going out and getting drunk and stupid. we have a nice ceremony at the cemetery every year that we look forward to.

we do have a BBQ and a couple beers. usually watch a couple wars movies. Saving Private Ryan , We Were Soldiers, Platoon.

This year we are watching that new movie 1917 and this week we got the dvd set for Band of Brothers. We watched it years ago. EXCELLENT and I read the book this past year which was very good.

Band of Brothers is the best production about any war that I have ever seen. Absolutely love that series. My PawPaw was 101st in WW2 so I have a soft spot for it.

Band of brothers is one of my favorites also. I'm on episode 7 of the Pacific right now which is the second show on the installment. There is supposed to be a third installment that covers the Army Airforce called Masters of the Air. If it turns out to be anything like BOB and Pacific, it should be a great watch.

He wasn't Easy Company, but fought in those same battles. Our Family has some memorabilia from the Eagles Nest. The Greatest Generation indeed. If only folks today could pull together like they did back then! Unlike those 6os hippies that spit on our Veterans when they returned home. Sickening!

My Dad was a jet engine mechanic at an Air Force base . he was in the Seabees and stationed at Pearl Harbor after the attack.

Some of my "friends" gave me a hard time about my Dad working for the "war machine". I was against the war but was proud of what my father did.

I never felt one time that the grunts were the bad guys in the Vietnam war.

Funny story. He never drank liquor but liked beer. He sent a case of Cognac home from the Eagles Nest. Mom said when he returned home, he asked my Mawmaw where the Cognac was so he could pour a glass. Sort of a celebratory drink. Well, Mawmaw gave it away because she knew he didn't drink liquor. DOH!
