But the U.S. importing more oil means they have no choice but to send oil to refineries and ship the excess overseas as quickly as possible because we only have so much storage capacity. What we should be doing is cutting out the foreign oil and turn on all American sources. That means cheaper prices at the pump and more American jobs. And reduced transportation costs means cheaper groceries. Bringing oil here from the Middle East and Venezuela means higher oil prices and fewer American jobs while it enriches many countries who aren't our friends.

The US imports oil from foreign countries in exchange for military, food and manufactured goods in order to off set trade imbalances. The world economies still work on wants and needs.
