Read your contract local supplement / rider section about holidays.

Why didn't they just give you a unpaid day off ???? Who the hell agrees to a one day Voluntary Lay off. If they lay you off it shouldn't be voluntary that is why they call it a lay off.

In my area you only have to work one day in the holiday week to get paid for the holiday or be on vacation.

Also unless your laid off for more than 30 days you get paid for the holidays that you that arise in that 30 days.

We're talking about dead days here. Maybe management's terminology for it is VLO. *shrug*

In NE, you just have to work on one day during the pay period of the holiday if you're part time or full time. Casuals have to work 3 days in the pay period of the holiday and be on payroll for 90 days.
