BrownCafe 3/6/13 Server Crash Conspiracy Theory

Okay.....short survey here...

Q1) How many of you thought that the BrownCafe's ServInt server crash, resulting in the loss of March 6th's posts, was the result of the UPS Information Service team attacking our " contract communication headquarters"?



Q2) How many of you actually got something done in your personal life on March 6th?


Here is what I discovered while looking up server information..... Our own Cheryl from BrownCafe is also owner of the websites:
Hair and Style Forum and Support for Parents - Parenting News ... quite a diverse individual here at BrownCafe... I never really took the time to research the history of BrownCafe..... origin...owner...background..etc. Excellent place for the exchange of UPS and Teamster information from different parts of the country.

The server problem was actually caused by a screw up by someone at servint. This was the explanation:

I've tracked down the issue. The last time your server was migrated to a new hostmachine, the old instance was not correctly deleted so the two servers were fighting for the IPs. This would explain the file timestamps changes you were seeing since it would occasionally switch between servers to the old one without the new updates.

I barely understand what that means but it's working now so apparently they fixed it. I'm really sorry about the disruption and am currently setting up a secondary backup system so we have more than just their daily backups to restore to. I don't fully trust them anymore...

The Hair and Style forum was created for my daughter, she's a hair stylist. She now has a job at an advertising agency and has lost interest in that forum so I recently closed it.

That in a nut shell means they had corrupted data files. It is a bad situation and does require quite a bit of time to get it fixed

Really ?? I put up that post. I did not realize it was removed. Funny how they don't want to acknowledge what they have done by treating workers like crap. All the additional stress they intentionally put on us is uncalled for. My post was true, every word of it. I would place my hand on the bible and swear to GOD. Wonder if they would do the same ??

People that kill themselves have bigger problems than work stress. Don't blame ups. This individual should have seeked professional help.

Just to clarify this, we lost most of the posts and other activity that took place here between 3-4 and 3-6 during the server problems yesterday. If you posted something during that time it was probably in with the rest of the data that was lost.

Thank God for the younger generation who know how to "fix" computers. Once or twice a year a young friend of mine totally rebuilds mine and all he wants is a case of beer. He shows up at my house with a suitcase full of parts and goes from there. He is the head computer guru at a large tech business (300+ employees) and deals with computer problems all day long so you would think he would be sick of it but he tells me he likes the odd problems I come up with over the mundane everyday problems he encounters at work. He loves a challenge ----and a beer.

In simple lay mans terms think of it as two teenagers fighting over extension phones in the house the way they screwed up your ip addressing. one would answer some, the other the rest, by the time they merged it became a massive mess. course it sounds just like something tsg would do just to show ops how important they are LOL

Really ? Well I personally witnessed the harassment and was one that was also harassed by the same sups. I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. As a person who had family members die at the hands of Nazi's, I liken some sups to Hitler.!! Some people think that is their only way out, I wish he would talked to me more, I would have have asked him to come to my house and think things thru. RIP
