Can they take my full time away

Can I lose my full time status?

I was offered full time inside on 12/9/24 twi shift into night shift, accepted and have been working since. I also know I was one of the last people asked and accepted due to people ahead of me saying no.

I don’t have the full story but tonight one of the guys who have more senority then me said he was fighting for one of the spots saying he was skipped over.

Could I potentially lose my full time status if that is the case?

WNY union if that makes a difference

While not familiar with your region, time is what matters. 6 or 3 months, depending on contract locks you in and solidifies you. I would suggest you call your business agent and get his take on it.

If someone ahead of you was skipped over and wins a grievance you end up losing.

I put my name on the full time interested list, they asked me if I wanted full time and I said yes the other person is claiming they were skipped over
When all is said and done, seniority should be the deciding factor, so long as the other person signed the bid as well.

After ready this, I had to go to You tube and watch the Godfather scene about Fredo getting stepped over. I really need to get a life. But man that was some acting.

What local supplement? We do not know if WNY has more than one local?

What classification/job title?

In my local, full time seniority is one ahead of any part-timer's. Worst case is you would work two part-time shifts to get your 8.

UPS would sometimes add temporary full time jobs for peak. Only idiots agreed to it since they would otherwise make more from overtime. After Christmas those jobs went away.

Yep, we had some of those in our local. The part-timers give up their overtime after five hours. For the guarantee of hours. They would’ve made more money saying no and double shift and getting paid overtime after five hours.

If he got "skipped over", has more seniority and signed the list then your SOL. People usually have to wait till they're dead for full time inside jobs so they're hawked.

Sounds like you signed a bid for a 22.3 position. If the member with more seniority also signed that bid and was some how not given the position then yes it's likely you could lose the position.

If he didn't sign it then I'd say it's unlikely he will take it from you.

You need to see that bid, and see if he signed it.

Were you one of the last? Or were you the last? Only the last guy has to worry about being bumped if there's only one guy filing.

If only someone had said any of this earlier!

Elon is working hard to remove yous guys.
