My brother that works at the Corvette plant visited me over the weekend to go to our uncle's funeral. He told me that last week the plant manager did "The walk of shame". The next day, they opened the plant and found ten brand new C-7s in a pile at the end of a short conveyor belt. They were finished cars, they just needed to go through a rain tunnel to test for leaks before they would be loaded onto a transporter for shipping. Total loss, they don't know who turned on the belt.

He had overnight sex at the plant?

I was referring to the NHRA Nationals. Anywhere.

We have one of those events close to where I live every year in Aug. I use to go all the time but haven't been to one in about 15 years because they have it the same week as the sprint car nationals in Iowa. One year I helped my friend who is a beer distributor put on a lunch for all the big names in his hospitality tent. Later on that night I got to party with Don the Snake Purdome, Raymond Beadle (The Blue Max) and most of the big boys of the NHRA back then.

At one time I was working at a hotel restaurant when John Force's pit crew came in. Their shirts were stained with oil. The last Nationals I was actually at, I saw The Blue Max being unloaded. Yes, it HAS been a long time.

I'm a couple of hours from either. Just a matter of direction.

Have you ever been to the sprint car nationals in Knoxville, Ia? This year will be the 20th year I've made it. It will also be my last. Over the years fewer and fewer of my friends have attended. I will be changing the Iowa race for the World Nationals (sprint cars, late models and the big block modifieds ) that is ran in Charlotte, NC in November. I went last year and had a ball. Who knows---I might even go to the NHRA Nationals here next year. I wonder if I can still rustle up some free tickets like I used to.

Once some time ago. A friend had a street legal sprint car I painted so he paid my way. I agree the Charlotte show looks like a bit more fun.

Used to go all the time when I was announcing. Nice part? Getting in free. Being up in tower, smoozin wif all the wannabes and stars. Eatin all the free grub. Nabbin the free T-shirts and other stuff. One vender even gave me a pair of shoes cuz I was pluggin him so much.

Announced at Indy, Seattle, Denver, Topeka, Bristol (when it was IHRA), KC. Fun at the time. It HAD to be fun cuz it sure didn't pay.

The Wendell, Idaho, salvage yard is selling its stock of thousands of cars, as its 79-year-old owner considers finally retiring after over a half-century in the business.

And he’s throwing in the 80 acres of land they’re sitting on for free.
