Citizen’s Arrest gone wrong Georgia

One of the accused is a FORMER cop and some cops just can't let go of the power and the prestige that goes with being a cop. I wonder if this guy might have been one. It's a mentality some refuse to let go of. Just as some guys upon their discharge from the military struggle to fully detach themselves from that part of their lives.

Texts suggest Georgia police enlisted help from suspect months before shooting
Larry English, who owns the construction site, reached out to police in December concerning trespassers on the property. English maintained a motion-activated camera system that sent alerts and a video clip whenever the cameras activated.

Officer Robert Rash of the Glynn County Police Department responded on December 20 to English’s concern, suggesting in the text exchange that Greg McMichael could help.

“Your neighbor at XX Satilla Drive is Greg McMichael. Greg is retired Law Enforcement and also a Retired Investigator from the DA’s office,” the text from Officer Rash read. “He said please call him day or night when you get action on your camera.”

The Georgia police did not directly enlist help from anyone. They merely suggested to the contractor that there was a former cop who lived nearby who may be interested in keeping an eye on the place whenever the construction site was unoccupied.

"Informally deputized" LMFAO! There is no such thing. Either you are or you are not a member of the force and this guy was NOT a member of the force.
Tell that to the dead guy's family they must be confused. Or just looking to use their dead family member as a paycheck at taxpayers' expense....

S. Lee Merritt, a lawyer for the Arbery family, called for the officer who sent the text and “all participating parties” to be arrested.

“We believe this communication deputized a group of untrained men in the Satilla Shores community to hunt down suspected trespassers, causing the events of Feb. 23, 2020,” Merritt said, referring to the killing.

Maybe that "communication" works in Mayberry, but not in the real world. Clearly a violation in law enforcement.

That's your opinion.
I don't have one.
The jury will decide.

Most of the news has been from Arbery's lawyer attempting to get the case tried in the court of public opinion. He may have some valid points but we are only hearing one side of the story.
