    Can somebody please explain why there was an extension to our current contract when they have already negotiated a new contract and we have not even voted yet?

    The company had a plan. They also have a Peak plan every year.

    No one ever knows how long negotiations will last. It's not like buying a car. Also the supplementals can't be negotiated till they know what's in the Master.
