Corporate America ruins everything

So far alot of management responses on here. Bottom line is, you make your own contentment at Brown. My point is a union trade would provide a positive feedback loop some corporate ink slinger couldn't change.

Shh...It’s peak and I’m hunting logic
capitalism concentrates power and it leads to corruption and abuse of workers.

workers need more power. union leadership are too often corrupted. we need a system which decentralizes power.

i agree greed ruins everything. i used to be a railway worker. i had alot of money. but because of greed and a weak labor movement i did not get anything more than 2-3 weeks off a year for vacation.
Well by all means let’s chairman Mao the hell out of it all

No one cares about grievances. Many times it’s on the advice of an employee “brother” who is tired of picking up said pos slack. Happens often - but you’ll never hear that side of the story here.
Just so happens after the employee files a grievance. Gotcha

Right. And when you schedule a ride with the pos he cries over supervision. Then you know the guy doesn’t want to fix the problem because it’s all bull:censored2:.
File all the grievances you want. UPS got over in this contract and it’s still cheaper to pay those grievances rather than hiring more people.

Exactly. Why would management mess with the employees that do they job right, when there are so many other fish to fry? If you’re being followed on observations or have multiple ride withs, you are probably a pos employee. These posters with whiny stories or harassment bring it upon themselves. Good ( or even mediocre at this point) employees don’t get harassed.
Yes- we need employees to do they job right.

Which still does not refute anything I said before. Grievances put added eyes on you.

And again…from experience…no one cares about grievances. It’s all a dog and pony show. At the end of the day, packages get delivered
….it’s the cost of doing business with a soft ups community.

They don't care about paying grievances, but they would rather have people that don't file them in the first place. Hence the added eyes.

It’s all about power. If you dare stand up to them and exercise your contractual or legal rights, they don’t like that. Even though you might be excellent at your job, safety, customer service, etc.

To management you are a problem that could spread throughout the workforce like a cancer. Hence the harassment.

Every system concentrates power. The rulers & the peons. At least in capitalism anyone has the opportunity to work themselves upward. The other systems you are stuck in the caste system - ruler or peon.
A family member works for a nonprofit health center, ceo is an avowed socialist. Top 5 or so employees who make over 100k get $10k Christmas bonus checks every year, all the rest of the peons...$100.
A very good Friend of mine helped change a company into an employee owned company. Top dogs make triple the peons.
No Matter what system you want to move to there will always be a major disparity between the elite and the peon.
Look at ups, it's a picture of what socialism does to a worker group. Everyone makes the same regardless of their work ethic. The hard workers get tired of carrying someone else's water so they stop working hard(at least if they are smart).

Any organization needs a chain of command to have a direction and achieve a goal. RickyB's theories on worker control over companies would achieve little advancement and likely not survive.

Everyone has different skill sets and levels of intelligence. Usually, there's a reason someone climbs to the level of CEO. A leader is needed to steer a business in a carefully planned manner. Ever hear the term "designed by committee"? They are the crappy designs because too many people got involved in decision making. Could a movie ever be completed without a director?

It's all a pipe dream to think that we can all be equal and all be in control of the companies we work for. If you have a problem being the peon, be the CEO of it's so easy.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.

That’s why communism doesn’t work.
