For the most part I respect Obama and tend to agree with him, but his statements at the funeral were both disrespectful and idiotic. A memorial service is not an appropriate place to debate gun issues, and saying that it is easier for a teenager to get a Glock than a book is asinine.

What are you talking about? "appropriate place"??????

Any other time, people like you WONT listen to anything on gun control, you dont care about human tragedies if it means limiting your ability to have whatever guns you want.

The president had a captured audience of MILLIONS of Americans at that moment. That is the RIGHT time to talk about it, while he has the ears of America.

People are dying everyhour, everyday, every week, every month in America at the end of a GUN BARREL, and the tragedies are getting BIGGER and BIGGER.

Nobody wants to listen unless there is a giant tragedy, and then they go back to ignoring and allowing the deaths to pile up.

And it is easier to get a gun than a book in this country. Go to a library and try to walk out with a book, but you can get a gun on the street or internet without having to fill out as much as a library card.

That was the point sober.

As we see, states that have the most lax gun laws contribute the most violence in other states. Indiana= chicago, Arizona=california, Texas=the nation.

Save your faux concern for the dead cops, you dont really care about them.

Not when you support every whack job the opportunity to buy weapons of mass destruction.

The president has an obligation to address all the perimeters of gun violence and the manner those policemen died in.

You may not like the message, and we know why, but dont complain when cops are killed by the very weapons you support.

Obama is the President of the United States.

He can arrange a press conference any time he wants. He can appear on any news show he wants, or be interviewed by any one of the thousands of reporters who would jump at the opportunity. Lack of media exposure is not a problem he will ever have. And he is entitled to have his opinions and to share them, whether I agree with them or not. BUT...a memorial service is NOT an appropriate time or place to discuss political issues.

You cant buy a gun on the Internet without going through a Federal Brady background check. And since buying guns "on the street" is already illegal, passing additional laws wont do anything to stop such sales. Library cards are usually free, and dont require a background check. There are also bookstores and garage sales where books are sold for cheap.

Only an idiot would truly believe that it is easier to buy a gun than a book.

DENIAL is a gun owners best friend. Look, if illegal guns sales were not so easy in this country because of "current laws", then how do you explain how inner city chicago youth are getting the newest and latest guns ???

They surely arent walking into chicago gun stores, or gun shows. They consistently have criminal records and ineligible for legal gun purchases. So, how then, if the "current laws" that YOU cite are on the books are they getting guns?

Gun owners want to DENY the obvious and hide behind the rhetoric and claim there are "laws" already on the books to stop illegal gun sales...

Maybe if you stop denying the obvious, and admit that guns are being sold on the internet without any kind of checks whatsoever, or through gun show loopholes, straw buyers can buy assault style weapons and turn them around for triple the profit, then maybe you will convince me you really care about policemen who get killed with these weapons.

The problem really is, you cowboys want to pretend to be tough guys, and think you need military looking weapons to fit that narrative. Guns slung over the shoulder as done in the military while standing on a street corner or in your front yard trying to be a tough guy.

As for the library, nobody said getting a library card, what was said was walking out with a book without one. Just like getting guns. Any idiot can get a gun without background checks, registration or tracing.

Just look at your collection.

DID you not read what I wrote?

Sounds like you really missed the point. We all know that press conferences can be called and the media attends, but GETTING PEOPLE LIKE YOU TO WATCH AND UNDERSTAND THEM is another problem.

This service had the ears of millions of people, and whether you like the message or not, you still heard it.

Stop pretending to give a crap about dead cops, when you support the kinds of weapons to be sold on our streets that are killing them, just so you can pretend to be rambo at home.

are you suggesting going to the library to walk out with one without a card?

why would you walk out with one if they are free with a card???
