DIAD V

Wherever I see Trump, it smells like he's Putin.
My favorite is when it glitches out and starts scanning like 5 times on its own.

When I did bulk stops I would just hammer the scan button, and so naturally it would keep beeping after I ran out of barcodes to scan. I figured out all you have to do to shut the scanner down in that case, is to just scan one barcode from any other stop that's in your edd. Once you do, it'll rapid fire about 6 or 8 beeps (to tell you that pkg is not supposed to go here) then stop, and you're all good to go.

The ones on the EOD's from the last software update are not bullseyes. They are more like a QR Code. They are missing the little two ring bullseye of the one on the packages.

The new barcode is a Data Matrix barcode. It includes the EOD Barcode info and also may contain extra information about some of the packages at the pickup stop.

If you disagree with posts and have inside info how about sharing what you've learned.
I saw the microphone placement on a PDF of diad IV. Are you denying there's microphones in the last two models or saying something about incorrect info of the communication abilities?

The microphone was used for "Speaker Comm Calls". Drivers were prompted to use a payphone to transmit package data when the DIAD lost it's communication signal. The speaker and microphone on a DIAD 4 are in a position such that a payphone handset will rest over them and allow the DIAD to communicate with the data center like an old computer modem. This functionality was removed with the introduction of DIAD 5 and has been removed from all DIAD software.

DIAD 5s still have microphones because they are basically a phone and there is the possibility of enabling voice communication, or speech recognition in the future, although there are no plans for either at this time.

To this point, the speaker has never been used to record (or listen to) anything that was happening, and the light is not tied to the microphone in any way.

Are you certain the microphones have NEVER been used?

How come when you scan 1 or a few packages and hit signature/enter - the package count reads some outrageous package count?

Then if you undue the sig/enter and redo the sig/enter the package count is fixed?

That's the first I've heard of that issue. Is it something that you can predict when it will happen so that you could get a video of it?

I have never heard of that happening either.

Sounds like a glitch with that single unit; have them swap it out.

That happens to me sometimes as well. I think what is happening is that I am hitting the keypad as I am flipping the screen causing the pkg count to change. The other issue that bugs the begeezus out of me is while scanning a large stop I accidentally hit the pkg info soft key and it goes into multiple pkg shipper number mode and the screen that shows how many packages are left to scan is replaced with a screen that shows packages with the same shipper number. I know I am hitting that button by mistake but it's annoying like the diad4 problem where the customer would hit the screen flip button with their thumb when signing. Drives me insane! Lol

If they're left handed they still flip the screen.

It happens to me quite a bit at least multiple times per week. I'm pretty good at showing the customers how many packages they are signing for, so I notice pretty quickly before I hand it to them.

Not sure how it's happening or what I may doing. Not sure if it happens on different boards, but there are times when my board is down or has been given to a different route for no good reason and I have a rando board. I'll have to try and notice.

The reason you are showing incorrect numbers of packages is because you are hitting signature, some random numbers, and then enter. You can change the number that's on the signature screen that way. For example, if you have a customer that is anal about seeing how many packages they have on the screen every day, but you haven't had a chance to scan all of them yet, you can change the number when you hand it to them.

My pet peeve (as mentioned) is when the board scanner goes haywire and won't stop. The only options are (to my knowledge) reboot or wait for it to stop. start driving, you'll be on reports for recording while traveling even though it's bogus. Had that happen.

Also, the clumsy touch-screen often times won't work, or will be misaligned, so you can't click anything - or it clicks onto something you don't want. I found a reboot helps with this.

Otherwise, I like Diad 5 compared to previous versions.

Do you use the touch screen for driver release and such? I'm old school, I use the corresponding number on the keys.

Had a guy that was a royal :censored2: about counting pkgs. normally I'm all for it but this guy was a dick.

So Id change the number two or three off the correct count.

He'd count to 14 take the Diad from me, see 16, hand the Diad back to me and count again. Meanwhile I'd switch it back to the correct number. He'd finish counting, reach for the Diad, look and see that it said 14. Was always so confused. It was great.
