gosh darn!! I didn't even see that!

Fedex took a giant dump also. I wonder if this had anything to do with the rate increase.

When I went to USA Today they showed a 23 pt. drop. Did our stock split?
23% drop in last year looks about right.

nope, just tanked, boy I'm ready to retire, sure glad I don't have management's ups stock pension.
Our pension funding is well diversified but unfortunately the entire equity market is down at least that much.
But many management people are delaying their retirement.

Down to 50, hoaxter that's not a 20$% drop from 71 it's a 20 point drop.

OK... if you're going to try getting nick picky on me.
The original poster said it was down 23...
1/14/08 it was $67.16
1/11/08 it is at $50.93

That is a drop of 24%.

I eyeballed it and said "23%...that looks about right".
My response now, in the spirit of UpState, - "Damn I'm good!"

Let's just say, I graduated High School, a little bit early, so math is not my forte`. Now, if talking smack was one of my classes, I'd of gotten all A's.:wink2:

If you look at the last year, FedEx, the DOW, and S&P all did worse than UPS.

Over the last 2 years, UPS lost as much as the DOW (almost exactly the same). The S&P and Fed Ex all did worse.

I understand that UPS pension is fully funded.

I would assume that Teamster pensions are invested in the stock market?

When the stock market drops, we are ALL affected.

UPS stock is only one very small piece.

Algebra - it's ok...you occasionally use it in real life.

Calculus - 6 quarters of it and never used it in real life.

I have never understood why anyone in their right mind would ever need to turn letters into numbers until I was introduced to that da*n toggle key on the DIAD IV.

Seriously, algebra and business ethics were the only classes I never completed in college. My wife tells me that she woke up one night and I was talking in my sleep saying over and over again, "I hate algebra. I hate algebra...".

Apparently usatoday.com has a serious glitch. It's showing Ford (friend) trading at 26 a share. Up from 4 a share, a 899% increase. ***???
