There was a time when customers cared. Not sure they do anymore in a time when late air is the norm, damages take months to be paid, and peak season is a mystery to the industry even though it shows up the same time every year.

If it comes down to the ring goes or you go then how important that ring is to you is a matter for you to decide.
Look at it this way. If you decide to keep the ring and forfeit your employment there's always another desperate contractor gladly willing to hire you on.
