Ebola spreading in West Africa: What you need to know

Hospital bill for Ebola may be $1,000 an hour in Dallas
The care provided Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan may have cost as much as half a million dollars, a bill Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas is unlikely to ever collect.
His treatment included fluids replacement, blood transfusions and drugs to maintain blood pressure. There's also the cost of security, disposing of Ebola-contaminated trash and equipment to protect caregivers.
Spokesmen for Texas Health Presbyterian and for the Liberian embassy in Washington declined to discuss who would pay for Duncan's care.

Perhaps they shouldn't release the body until the bill is paid.

I suspect Duncan will actually be a money maker in the form of a lab rat. His case information alone will have value to pharmaceutical companies and other medical researchers. And it's not like they don't have the money.

Dr. Obama knows......

Who do you trust, Barack Obama or the CDC?

Via CNS News:

Speaking in a video message to residents of West African countries currently experiencing outbreaks of Ebola hemorrhagic fever, President Barack Obama dispensed advice on how residents can avoid and respond to the deadly disease, telling them that “the first step in this fight is knowing the facts” – including, according to the president, that a person “cannot get [Ebola] through casual contact like sitting next to someone on a bus.”

“First, Ebola is not spread through the air like the flu,” Obama explained in the video released by the White House Thursday. “You cannot get it through casual contact like sitting next to someone one a bus. You cannot get it from another person until they start showing symptoms of the disease, like fever.”

Obama also explained that “the most common way you can get Ebola is by touching the body fluids of someone who is sick or has died from it, like their sweat, saliva or blood, or through a contaminated item like a needle.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), however, advises humanitarian aid workers from the United States who travel to countries currently experiencing Ebola outbreaks to “avoid public transportation” if they develop a fever or experience other Ebola-like symptoms while on their trip.

Listed among their online recommendations for travelers journeying to Liberia, Guinea, Nigeria or Sierra Leone, the CDC advises travelers who begin to exhibit possible Ebola symptoms and choose to visit a doctor to “Limit your contact with other people when you travel to the doctor; avoid public transportation.”

I guess some maroon thought it would be funny to sneeze and then say "I have Ebola" while on a crowded flight.
I had a neighbor back in the 70's who jokingly asked an airline stewardess about what time the plane would be arriving in Havana Cuba .
That was during a time when a lot of planes were being hi-jacked .
The response from the authorities was similar .

On point radio program had a show about Ebola. The virus can survive for 24hours on a surface. What ever the Dallas guy touched after he showed symptoms, and you touched best of luck to you.

You people continue to be HYPED with misinformation.

Ebola isnt airborne. It requires a bodily fluid exchange and unless you are doing so in a bus, you cannot catch the virus.

Just like AIDS isnt an airborne virus.

You people will fall for anything fox tells you. Or weasel zippers, or the blaze, or any other right wing closet rag.

TOS.

One of these days you might learn reading comprehension. But I doubt it.
